Description

This thesis is primarily concerned with the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the collapse of the Soviet Union. In particular, the role of the secret services, such as the Soviet KGB and the CIA, is discussed. A special role is played by privatization in the Soviet Union, initiated by the USA, and the reform programme Glasnost and Perestroika in the Soviet Union. In particular, the role of external actors such as the USA and Turkey, which played a decisive role in the introduction of privatization in the Soviet Union and the start of oil exports from the Caucasus region, is explained. As a result, the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict broke out at the end of the Soviet era.
