Description

When I was a child, I wanted to eat rice. I was too small to understand why we couldn't eat rice. My mother's bruised hands didn't make me think either. I just thought: "I guess that's the way it is." I found the answer one day in the form of a rich woman who bought vegetables from my mother at the market. That's when the social differences suddenly became clear to me. As I hastily packed my bags on November 12, 1974, I said to myself as I boarded a plane behind crying people that I had only ever seen in pictures: "You can do it!" I didn't know if what I was doing or how I was doing it was good. But I memorized these words in difficult times and when I felt like crying: "You can do it!"
